Swing is a carefree and joyous dance that became popular in the 1940's.  It is danced to up tempo music from Benny Goodman,  Louis Armstrong and 50's style  rock and roll, to bands playing in  today's current L.A. swing scene. Whether you're going to a wedding, a posh supper club, your company Christmas party, or a hot-spot on the retro scene, you're sure to get a chance to swing.

In Swing I, we teach Single-Time swing, which is danced to faster music, and Triple-Time Swing, which is danced to slower tunes, such as bluesy Motown.

Lindy Hop is the original style of Swing.  It began in Harlem in the 1920's and 30's and is descended from the Charleston.  There are two styles of Lindy:  Savoy and Smooth (or Hollywood Style), and we teach both.  Swing connoisseurs usually choose Lindy Hop as their favorite because it is an energetic and cool dance with a sexy, casual style.

         West Coast
is a smooth and sexy Swing. It originated in the early 50's and is a direct descendant of Lindy hop. It re-interprets the basic in a slotted motion that travels back and forth rather than circular as in Lindy Hop. It is danced to the Blues and slow Jazz with a strong beat. It is sophisticated and very stylized. West Coast Swing is the official state dance of California!
